Wireless Sensors for Intelligent Data Acquisition

Intelligent wireless sensors promise to greatly ease the implementation of complex measurement setups. The absence of cabling enables measurement applications that were not possible before, e.g. on fast rotating parts. The utility of wireless sensor nodes can be further increased if they are fed from environmental energy sources, e.g. solar or thermal energy (Energy Harvesting).

Our aim is to enable wireless sensors for real-world measurement data acquisition, e.g. in the automotive industries. We focus especially on: time synchronization, analysis of measurement errors and energy efficiency. Our test beds for asynchronous motors and automotive transmissions as well as our electronic vehicles are used as applications examples.
